The Auckland Methodist Central Parish is an administrative entity, within the Auckland Synod District, encompassing seven Methodist congregations/ fellowships which choose to worship in four churches.
These expressions of Methodism in the Auckland Methodist Central Parish are:
- the Pitt Street Morning and Fijian Congregations in the central city;
- the Epsom Morning Congregation, and the Auckland-Manukau Tongan Parish Epsom Congregation share use of the Epsom buildings;
- the Rotuman Congregation based at Trinity Kingsland;
- and the Mt Eden Congregation and Fijian-Indian Fellowship, who use the Mt Eden Village and Community Church, the Free Wesleyan Church of Tonga Congregation, who use the Church and Community Centre each week.
The phrase ‘where unity and diversity meet’ recognises that there is a range of worship styles and theological strands evident within the Parish demonstrating the broad scope of contemporary Methodist understandings. The separate entry related to the individual congregations and fellowships will convey a sense of how this is revealed in each setting. Each Congregation and Fellowship seeks to be involved in their immediate and wider communities. The Parish is an accredited Living Wage employer.
