To date the Handel Consort & Quire have presented Alceste, Alexander’s Feast, Laudate Pueri Dominum, Nisi Dominus, Saeviat Tellus Inter Rigores, Zadok the Priest, My Heart is Inditing, Joshua, Semele, Jephtha, Judas Maccabaeus, Athaliah, Rodelinda, La Resurrezione, Dixit Dominus, Dettingen te Deum, Music for the Royal Fireworks and several house concerts of Handel solo cantatas and arias at the sumptuous Rannoch, home of the James Wallace Arts Trust replete with wine and canapes.
“Handel is the greatest composer that ever lived. I would uncover my head, and kneel down at his tomb!”
Ludwig van Beethoven 1823.
HANDEL QUIRE AUDITIONS
We are always keen to audition new singers. If you are interested to sing with the Handel Quire please contact the director Robert Howell by phone 535-5493 or email (click the link on left side of page).
PITT ST VOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS
For singers with less experience, you might like to hone your musical skills and techniques by auditioning to become a Pitt St Scholar. Scholars receive a FREE singing lesson every week provided they sing in the choir on Wednesday practices 6.15-8pm and for Sunday services 9.45-11.45am.
This choir sings a wide ranging repertoire from Byrd to Rutter and almost everything inbetween!
Currently we have around 25 members, not all of whom sing every week. Around half of the choir is under the age of 30.
The standard of singing is very fine and you can hear them and find out more about the choir by visiting the Pitt St choir webpage. See the link at the top right of this page.
