CAFES NEAR PITT ST When people from out of town ask about coming to events at Pitt St, the next thing they ask is “Where can you get a meal nearby?” The answer is Karangahape Rd, four doors up the road from the church. Here are the local cafes: http://www.roadworks.co.nz/kroad/listings/results.asp?c=Cafes ... and restaurants: http://www.roadworks.co.nz/kroad/listings/results.asp?c=Restaurants The choir’s favourite cafe is St Kevins in the arcade at 183 K' Road. Turn left along K’ Road.
GO SKIING IN SUMMER: The coolest place in Auckland is Snow Planet, a year-round skifield, indoors, with real snow, about half an hour drive north of Auckland. ://www.snowplanet.co.nz/tickets.asp It’s below zero inside, so take very warm clothes. It’s great for beginners. It has an escalator!

HARBOUR, ISLANDS A VOLCANO: Fullers Ferries would be the cheapest way to see what is distinctively Auckland, the harbour, and the Hauraki Gulf Islands. Try Rangitoto. You get a beautiful ferry ride, a recently extinct volcano, and the best view of Auckland. It's a rough path, about 3km walk to the top. Take food and a raincoat. There's no shelter or food there. http://www.fullers.co.nz/index.php/pi_pageid/208
GETTING DIRECTIONS: To find your favourite spots use the Google map, left. And for public transport, try our link to the Auckland Regional Council calculator.
